NFF, LMC commiserate with Lobi, family over George’s demise

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) have sympathized with the management, players and supporters of Lobi Stars Football Club over the untimely death of their player, John George.

George died on Thursday in Kaduna after a brief illness, Sportsbiz247 reports.

While also commiserating with the family of the deceased, NFF,
the football governing body and LMC, organisers of Nigeria's elite League prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“Our thoughts are with the family of @LobiStars player John George. George died on Thursday. #RIPGeorge,” NFF said via its official Twitter handle‏, @thenff.

LMC also posted on its Twitter account, ‏@LMCNPFL, “Our condolences to @LobiStars & family of John George. The Lobi player, on loan from Mighty Jets, died on Thursday.”

Nigeria Premier League side, Sunshine Stars of Akure also expressed regret over the demise of the player.

“We commiserate with @LobiStars on the death of John George, our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family,” the Akure based outfit said via ‏@SunshineFCAkure.

George, a defensive midfielder, was on loan at Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi from Mighty Jets FC of Jos and he was a regular member of the first team.

His last game was a 2-2 home draw between Lobi Stars and Kano Pillars last month and he had obtained permission from the Club to return to Kaduna to treat a recurring bout of malaria, a trip he never returned from.

The Management of Mighty Jets FC of Jos said the club received with great shock the news of George demise.

In a Statement released by the club through its Media Officer Mbum Ferdinand, George was described as a hardworking and committed professional who was always respectful to Officials and Colleagues alike.

Mighty Jets would discuss with Lobi Stars and the player's family on the plans and arrangements as regards his burial.
