OLASENI Shane Lawal had his Rio 2016 Olympics Games
dreams crushed when he suffered a torn meniscus while playing for Barcelona
Lassa in February, but the D’Tigers center forward certainly isn't letting it
get him down in his bid to recovery, Sportsbiz247 reports.
Lawal was Nigeria’s top performer at the 2015 Afrobasket,
averaging 19.6 efficiency and 9.0 rebounds in all games to help the West
Africans clinched their first-ever continental championship in Tunisia.
The 29 year old got injured in Barcelona’s top 16 Round 7
of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague game against Zalgiris Kaunas on February 12
and underwent knee surgery five days later. He was subsequently ruled out for
three months, putting doubts to his availability for Nigeria at the Rio
Olympics.
Lawal however revealed that his recovery is right on
track in his latest picture he uploaded on his official Instagram account doing
a mountain walk with the message, “This is the day the Lord has made! A little mountain action for the legs this
morning. This view”, he posted on Friday.
D’Tigers will campaign alongside host Brazil, Spain,
Argentina and Lithuania in Group B of the Men’s Basketball event of the 2016
Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Lawal is one of the players expected to shine for Nigeria
in the forthcoming Games come August, alongside Afrobasket MVP Chamberlain
Oguchi and trail blazers star Al Amin Farouq.
