The game was the El Kanemi’s first league game in Maiduguri after three years of playing away from their home ground.
Sunday's game attracted huge fans who had waited for years for a top flight action like this because of Book Haram menace which forced Borno Armies to play their games at the Karkanda Stadium in Katsina.
“It was a good game and massive crowd here. I said it before the game that we won’t disappoint our fans and I am happy that we delivered.
"This is a better way to say thank you to our fans that have been supporting us despite the fact that we were playing away from home. I am not surprised to see them in their numbers here because it really showed that they have been missing league action,” Bosso said.
After first half goalless draw, El Kanemi Warriors broke the deadlock in the 51st minute through Ibrahim Mustapha’s goal to the delight of the jubilant fans that came to the stadium en masse to cheer their darling team. Chinedu Ohanachom added the second goal in the 86th minute to secure all three points at stake in the match.
