Sunshine Stars hold Ikorodu Utd in Lagos

NIGERIA Professional Football League (NPFL) new boys, Ikorodu United, have played themselves into real trouble after playing out a scoreless draw with Sunshine Stars at their Onikan Stadium home in Lagos on Sunday.

After six losses on the spin in previous Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches, faithful of the club were hoping that they will finally end their spell of poor run against Sunshine Stars in a bottom-three contest.

Even thirteen minutes from time, Ikorodu United won themselves a penalty when substitute Ifegwu Ojukwu was upended in the Sunshine Stars' box. It was the third penalty that the Akure club will concede in two games.

It looked like Ikorodu United would finally end their poor run until Rafiu Monsuru stepped and blazed the spot kick into the stands to the disappointment of the Lagos fans.

The 0-0 draw now means that Ikorodu United have in nine NPFL matches on the bounce and remain bottom of the standings with six points after 11 matches as their head coach Sam Okpodu is yet guide them to win a game since taking charge last month.
