Right from the start of the game, the home side showed intent taking the game to Niger Tornadoes but profligacy was their bane and that kept the score line low.
There was a slight delay to the kick off due to rains that started about fifteen minutes to the normal kick off time that left a very wet pitch.
Niger Tornadoes head coach, Abdulahi Biffo was quick to blame the pitch as one of the reasons for the poor performance of his side citing the fact that teams from the northern part of the country are not used to playing on wet surfaces.
“The rains just before the game started contributed to the poor play of my team,” Biffo said at the post match press conference.
“I agree we played badly but we are not used to playing under wet conditions so my players could not adjust,” Biffo said.
