NIGERIA U-17 girls basketball team will face Latvia, Japan and Canada in Group A of the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship 'Zaragoza 2016', scheduled to hold from 22 June to 3 July, in Spain.
The official draws of the Championships for Men and Women took place in Zaragoza, Spain on Wednesday, Sportsbiz247 reports.
It will be the first time the tournaments are played jointly - as part of a youth world basketball festival.
The Nigerian girls secured the Women’s Championship ticket at the 2015 FIBA Africa U16 Women’s Championship held in Madagascar where they came second after losing to Mali in the final.
Mali, who emerged triumphant for a third successive edition of the U16 Women’s Championship are returning to the U17 Worlds looking to repeat their landmark success against Italy in 2014. They are drawn in Group D alongside Spain, Brazil and Portugal.
Group B has Australia, France China and Mexico, while USA, Italy, Czech Republic and Korea will compete in Group C.
