The result was a summary of a woeful first half
performance from the current national league champion as they started on a very
bad note with Racing's David Oyekanmi scoring a try in the 9th minute to the
amazement of Cowrie players.
Monday Alex could have given his side a 7 point advantage
but unfortunately, he missed the subsequent conversion kick.

After a hair dryer treatment from its technical crew,
Cowrie came out firing from all cylinders but it was Racing that made their
chance count with opposition’s tormentor in chief, Monday Alex scoring another
penalty to take their lead to 15-0.

Despite a late
fight back from Cowrie courtesy of a try from new boy, Alfred Oche and a
conversion from Azeez Ladipo, silly mistakes and resolute piece of defending ensured
that the unbeaten record of invincible Cowrie RFC was shattered after 7 years.
Captain of Cowrie RFC, Azeez Ladipo said the defeat was
inevitable as nothing lasts forever as he blamed his team for poor preparation
for the game.
On the opposite divide,
captain of Racing RFC, David Oyekanmi said it feels great to bring the 7 years
unbeaten record of Cowrie RFC to an abrupt end.
Police RFC however shot to 2nd spot on the CMB Building and
Investment Company South West Rugby League table after a convincing 53-0 win
over a hapless and inexperienced Gosar RFC of Lagos.
