NIGERIA striker, Odion Ighalo saw his Premier League
scoreless streak stretch to 11 matches as he once again failed to hit the back
of the net in Watford’s 3 – 2 win over Aston Villa at Vicarage Road Stadium on
Saturday.
The Super Eagles striker has not scored a Premier League
goal for the Hornets since January 23 in a 2-1 home win against Newcastle
United.
The bereaved striker had hoped to score against Villa so
as to pay his own tribute to his late father.
Ighalo’s dad Paul passed away on Monday morning in
Nigeria, just away just hours after the Hornets' FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace
and the striker has chosen to remain in England until after their final Premier
League game next month.
The 26 year old however made his present felt by setting
up the third goal of the match scored by Deeney Troy.
Already relegated Villa looked set to end their 10-game
losing streak having twice led through Ciaran Clark and Jordan Ayew. But
Deeney's efforts after 90 and 93 minutes instead condemned Eric Black's men to
defeat and saw them equal the club's worst run of consecutive league losses
since 1962-63.
