Gbinije signs with Roc Nation Sports

NIGERIA'S national male basketball team, D'Tigers and Syracuse point guard, Michael Gbinije has signed with Roc Nation Sports, a division of entertainer and entrepreneur Jay-Z's Roc Nation enterprise, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

The 23 year old helped Nigeria win gold in the AfroBasket 2015 tournament and qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics, scoring five points in the championship game against Angola.  Overall, Gbinije, who wore No.12 jersey averaged 7.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in the tournament and scored in double figures twice in eight games.

Gbinije and the American sports management company announced their partnership Tuesday morning via Twitter and Instagram.

"#RocNationSports welcomes former Syracuse University Guard#MikeGbinije @mikeswaggyG to the family!" the post says with a picture of Gbinije wearing a Roc Nation hat and T-shirt.

Gbinije, who finished his Orange basketball career in the 2016 Final Four, shared the news of his signing as his first post on the social media site.

"Proud to announce that I’m officially part of the @RocNation fam#rocnationsports," he wrote.

Gbinije, is the ninth basketball player to sign with Roc Nation Sports, which already represents Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins, Justise Winslow, Willie Cauley-Stein, Wilson Chandler, James Young, Caris LeVert and Henry Ellenson. Michigan's LeVert and Marquette's Ellenson were two recent additions to the Roc Nation Sports division.
