Giwa FC of Jos and Heartland FC of Owerri were the major casualties of the round of 64 Federation Cup games played across the country on Wednesday.
While Giwa suffered a 2-0 loss in the hands of Sunshine Stars at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, Heartland FC crashed out 4-3 on penalties to non-League team, Top World FC of Ekiti at Oleh Township Stadium.
In Uyo, a superb brace by Rivers United winger, Bernard Ovoke proved the catalyst for a thrilling 4-3 win over amateur side, Papilo FC at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
In Kaduna, MFM of Lagos were made to sweat before eliminating El-Kanemi Babes of Maiduguri 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 at the normal regulation period.
Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan had no difficulty in displacing Wikki Tourists Feeders 2-0 with Olukokun Olukunle Najeem and Ajani Ibrahim providing the goals.
It was however a historical moment for Go Round FC on Wednesday as they won their first ever Federation Cup game after a 3-1 spanking of Yobe Desert Stars.
Go Round FC are playing in the Federation Cup for the first time after qualifying for the final of the Rivers State FA Cup in April.
