NIGERIA female national basketball team, D’Tigress continued their preparation towards the Rio 2016 Women Olympic Qualifying Tournament (WOQT) with a 67-56 points loss once again to Turkey in another friendly match in Istanbul on Saturday.
The Coach Scott Nnaji-led side had lost to the same Turkish team by 68-56 points in a warm-up game on Friday.
Despite the loss, it was an improved performance by the Nigerian ladies that has players like Uju Ugoka, Ezinne Kalu-Phelps, Promise Amukamara, Adaora Elonu , Atonye Jennifer Nyingifa , Olayinka Sanni, Ndidi Madu and Captain Helen Ogunjimi on parade.
The team will now move to France where they will engage Argentina in another friendly match on June 8-9.
The friendly matches are to prepare the team for the Rio 2016 Women Olympic Qualifying Tournament WOQT scheduled for June 13-19, 2016 in France.
The Nigerians claimed a third-place finish at AfroBasket Women 2015 to secure a place at the WOQT.
The Nigerian girls have been drawn in Group C of the qualifiers along with Belarus and South Korea and they will open their WOQT campaign on June 13 against Belarus.
