Nigerian Referees mourn as Saiki goes home

NIGERIA Referees Association have paid tribute to late Chief John Saiki, the Zonal Coordinator of North central zone of the Association who was laid to rest today (Thursday).

In a message of condolence personally signed and made available to Sportsbiz247 by the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Kelechi Mejuobi, the late official was described as an epitome of kindness, mentor and guide to many referees.


“Tears rolling down the cheeks of members of the Nigeria Referees Association, were not enough to show the pains in their hearts as one of the vibrant elders and the Zonal Coordinator of North central zone of the Association, Chief John Saiki is laid to rest today.
 
“Igara community in Akoko Edo area of Edo state stood still for referees who not only stormed the deceased country home to pay their last respect for the plateau based retired FIFA Referee, but also exhibited the inevitable show of comradeship and issuance of final Red card to the late Saiki who during his lifetime was an epitome of kindness, mentor and guide to many referees especially in the North central zone and plateau state council where domiciled and has one of his children Alfred Naivi Saiki, a Premier League referee who followed his footsteps.

“The NRA shares with sorrow the family the exit of this master in the art of refereeing, wishing that his soul will rest in perfect peace. Adieu our zonal coordinator sir”, the statement read.
