FORMER Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama is relishing
a wonderful season with Lille despite failing to win the Best Goalkeeper of the
2015/2016 Ligue 1 season.
The Lille goalkeeper could not stop Olympic Marseille’s
Steve Mandanda from dethroning Salvatore Sirigu at the annual award ceremony on
Sunday.
The Nigerian made the list of nominees for the most
outstanding players in France this season after keeping 14 clean sheets in 21
out of 35 matches for sixth placed Lille.
The former Super Eagles captain however took to his
Instagram to congratulate Mandanda, the eventual winner of the award. He also
expressed appreciation to his family, team mates and everyone who voted for him
and most especially Almighty God for a wonderful season.
“Thanks to everyone that voted for me. Everyone that made
me wear my suit today. Congratulations to @riomavuba for his award. Grateful to
my wife, kids, family, my team mates and everyone in my club. Thanks to my
SUPER GOD for a wonderful season. We will keep working hard for future
trophies,” he posted via vinny2908 along with picture taken with the Marseille
goalkeeper.
Enyeama was named among the top 10 goalkeepers in Europe
for the 2015/16 season by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory, where he
placed sixth behind Manuel Neuer, Jan Oblak, Gianluigi Buffon, Kevin Trapp and
Claudio Bravo.
