MATCH winner Bernard Ovoke says he is yet to reach top
form despite scoring three goals in two matches by netting the only goal for
his team, Rivers United to grab the three points in their away game to Warri
Wolves in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.
Ovoke, who got a brace against Rangers International in
the previous match day, cashed in on the defensive mix-up by Warri Wolves to
tap in from a Godbless Asamoah's long cross in the 52nd minute leaving Dele Ajiboye
in goal for the home side with no chance.
“I was pleased to have received a standing ovation from
the Warri Wolves fans.
“Right now, I am doing well, but I am still not yet back
to my best. I was playing a lot better when I was at Bayelsa United (former
club) but slowly, I am getting back there,” Ovoke said after helping United record
their second win on the road this season.
Rivers United’s technical manager, Stanley Eguma while
commending the players for the performance, believes they were made to work
hard for the win.
"It was a very difficult game but I must commend my
players for giving it their all because Warri Wolves showed their stuff but I
think we had a better game plan," he said after the encounter.
"From the start of the season we had our eyes
focused on the league shield and even though it has not been a great run for
us, we are happy we are now getting into the groove but we are not carried away
with the victories so far."
