GOTV BOXING NIGHT 7: How I'll spend my N1m cash prize - Joe Boy

NEW national lightweight boxing champion, Oto "Joe Boy" Joseph has given hints on how he plans to spend the N1million he won as a cash prize for the best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 7.

Joe Boy, who defeated Nurudeen "Prince" Fatai by unanimous decision in their 12-round contest at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium last Sunday, said he plans to invest the money in a business he has been growing.

The boxer, who won the cash prize for the second time, explained that much of the first N1million he won went into the business.

"The same thing is what I plan to do. I have a business which I am running. I want to make it grow big so that when I can no longer fight, I will have something to fall back on. I thank GOtv for the Boxing Night because it has really helped Nigerian boxers. Without GOtv, there will not be the Joe Boy that you know today. I'm really delighted," he said.

He was not the only one who left the venue of the event delighted. Idowu "Noble Cabasa" Okusote was similarly thrilled for a different reason. The cruiserweight boxer, whose last fight was in 2011, defeated Chibuzor "Chibunky " Vincent by a first round knockout in their cruiserweight bout.

"Thanks to the sponsors I was able to fight again. I hadn't fought for four years because there were no promotions. I am happy to have fought and to have won," he said.

Pro debutant, Rilwan "Baby Face" Babatunde, who defeated the more experienced Tope "Berinja" Agboola in a light welterweight challenge duel, has been a fountain of emotions since Sunday. "I can call myself a pro boxer now and by the grace of God, I will go far," said the fresh-faced youngster.

Other fights at the event featured Rilwan "Real One" Babatunde, who defeated Osamudiamen " Chisel " Goodluck in a lightweight; Chukuwebuka "Wise King" Ezewudo, who defeated Ganiyu "Energy " Kolawole in a middle weight duel; and Ebenezer "Anambra Tiger" Okoli, whose fight with Abiodun " Finito Wonder" Afinnih ended in a draw.
