SUPER Eagles striker, Aaron Samuel is hopeful of
returning to action before the end of this season after sustaining a knee
injury in the CSKA Moscow’s 4-1 loss to Zenit St. Petersburg in the final of
the Russian Cup last Monday.
The Nigeria international had equalized for the Militarians
in the 36th minute but had to be replaced three minutes later by Kirill Panchenko after he landed
awkwardly in the game played at the Kazan Arena, Sportsbiz247 reports.
The 21 year old uploaded a picture of himself on his
official Instagram page while on crutches with a message, “Will be back soon”.
He will play no part in his team’s Russian Premier League
clash against FC Terek Grozny on Saturday and also doubtful against FK UFA on
Tuesday.
Samuel who has so far racked up 7 caps and 2 goals for
the Nigeria since 2014, is among the 25 players invited by the country's
interim head coach Salisu Yusuf for the double header international friendlies
against Mali and Luxembourg.
The Super Eagles play Mali in France on May 27 before
facing Luxembourg on June 1.
