GOtv Boxing Night 7: Joe Boy wins national title, N1m

OTO "Joe Boy " Joseph, on Sunday night, became the national lightweight boxing champion after defeating Nurudeen "Prince" Fatai at GOtv Boxing Night 7, which was held at the National Stadium, Lagos on Sunday night.

‎The bout lived up to its explosive billing, with both boxers giving their best. Joe Boy, who once defeated Fatai by a knockout, seemed he was minded to repeat the trick. Fatai, however, stood firm. He had to endure plenty of punishment from his nimbler and clearly better opponent right up till the end of the 12-round contest.

Joe Boy was announced winner by unanimous decision and was adjudged best boxer of the night, winning N1m and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy-for the second time. As before, Fatai walked away with a bloodied face.

‎In other fights, Idowu "Noble Cabasa " Okusote defeated Chibuzor "Chibunky " Vincent by a first round knockout out in their cruiserweight bout, while Rilwan "Real One" Babatunde defeated Osamudiamen " Chisel " Goodluck in their lightweight duel.

Rilwan "Baby Face" Babatunde defeated Tope "Berinja " Agboola in a light welterweight challenge duel. Another winner on the night was Chukuwebuka "Wise King" Ezewudo, who defeated Ganiyu "Energy " Kolawole in a middle weight duel.

The heavyweight category delivered the only drawn bout at the event, with neither Ebenezer "Anambra Tiger" Okoli nor  Abiodun " Finito Wonder' Afinnih able to swing  things to his advantage.
