THE 2016 OLYMPIC Day celebration would hold on May 25,
2016 across the globe, while here in Nigeria, the event is expected to be
celebrated in the 36 states of the federation; including the Federal Capital
territory, Abuja.
Chairman of the Sports for All Nigeria, Prince Henry
Amike who disclosed this in Lagos said this year’s event promises to be bigger,
better and more glamorous, if words coming from their esteem partners is
anything to count on.
Adding that Directors of sports from the 36 states of the
federation including the federal capital territory, Abuja have since embraced
the programme during the two-day workshop held in Lagos.
Prince Amike advised states that are yet to register for
the Olympic day celebration to hurry up and register so as to be captured in
the 2016 activities.
He also pleaded with corporate bodies to support the
programme through sponsorship while explaining that Aerobic, cultural display,
keep fit and jogging exercise will be prominent in this year’s programme.
Secretary of sports for All Nigeria Commission, Augustine
Odigie while collaborating the chairman’s speech said some states have since
registered for the event and submitted their programme to the central working
committee ahead of the May 25th event proper.
In Lagos, the event will start with a two-day educational
programme for school children which will involve Arts, Quiz and Debates and
would hold on Thursday May 23 and Friday May 24 before the grand finale on
Saturday May 25, 2016.
