SUWON TOURNEY: Awoniyi optimistic as Dream Team departs for South Korea

DREAM Team VI striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is already looking forward to represent Nigeria again as the Under-23 side departed the shores of the country on Monday for South Korea ahead of the Suwon Invitational tournament.


The coach Samson Siasia tutored side will face hosts South Korea, Denmark and Honduras in the competition also meant to prepare the team for the football event of the Rio Olympic Games, sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

Awoniyi uploaded a picture with some of his team mate at the airport before their departure.

“With the NG Olympic team. SUWON TOURNAMENT loading, off to South Korea. Have to cut the break short again, thank U LORD for another privilege...SOUTH KOREA 100% Suwon tournament...🇳🇬🇳🇬 OLYMPIC TEAM, see U SOON @_linchpin..LET your will be done LORD…able GOD ,” the 18 year old Liverpool striker, who was on loan at FSV Frankfurt last season, said along with the picture.

FC Metz star, Popoola Sadiq also posted another picture on his Instagram accounts with a short message: “With the dream team going for the game 🙏🙌👏⚽️🔝💪💯👀”.

Upon the conclusion of their Korea campaign, the team will move to Manchester, England and Atlanta in the United States of America to continue their preparations.

The under-23s are in Group B of the Olympic men’s football event with Sweden, Colombia and Japan.

Siasia’s men start off their quest for a gold medal against Japan on August 4 before facing Sweden three days later. They will round off their group games in Sao Paulo against Colombia on August 10.
