THE Technical Adviser of Sunshine Stars Football Club of
Akure, Solomon Ogbeide has warned that the ongoing Nigeria Professional
Football League will not produce the real and quality champion if the competition’s
organisers, League Management Committee (LMC) does not monitor the activities
of match officials.
Ogbeide was speaking to Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com while
reacting to the outcome of the NPFL match day 34 tie between Kano Pillars and
Sunshine Stars at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano which ended 2-0 in favour of
the home side.
According to the veteran tactician, the LMC must monitor
the activities of the officials at this stage of the league as several factors
are now setting in.
"If we continue to witness some terrible and poor
officiating being recorded at various match venues, then we must be prepared to
produce fake champion at the end of the season.
"I hate to talk about officiating, but at times, you
will be compelled to react after witnessing some terrible situations.”
Ogbeide, who is the secretary of the Nigeria Coaches
Association, said the performance of some match officials have made several
coaches to lose their jobs.
He added that after week or weeks of hard work at
training sessions, some elements will deny teams of desired results because of
their unprofessional attitude on the pitch.
"How do you explain situations when your team or
teams are not allowed to play to the best of their abilities because of bad
officiating, some coaches have lost their jobs because their teams have lost
vital matches due to poor officiating, our experience in Kano speaks for itself,”
Ogbeide told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
