Chuba Akpom vows to return stronger from back injury

By Akeem Lawal
ARSENAL striker Chuba Akpom has confirmed he will be out of action ‘for a while’ after picking up a back injury.

The 20-year-old, who spent last term on loan at Hull City, was handed a massive opportunity in Arsene Wenger’s first-team this campaign following a scintillating pre-season for the Gunners.

Akpom has made ten appearances for Arsenal since making his debut back in 2013 and started for the north London outfit as they beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 at the City Ground on September 20.

The Nigerian born forward who revealed on his social media accounts that he has sustained a back problem, however vows to return stronger.

“Gutted to be out for a while with this back injury. I’ll be back stronger,’ Akpom told his followers on both Twitter and Instagram.

At his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Burnley on Sunday, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger did not mention Akpom’s injury.

Wenger still has the likes of Alex Iwobi, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott at his disposal in attack, with the trio impressing in all competitions so far this campaign.
