GOtv Boxing Night 9: Fighting Policeman vows to punish ID Cabasa

Ekeng Henshaw

AHEAD of his national cruiserweight title defence at GOtv Boxing Night 9 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, on 2 October, Ekeng “Fighting Policeman” Henshaw has vowed to give his opponent hell.

Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday, Henshaw, ranked seventh by the African Boxing Union, said his opponent, Idowu “ID Cabasa” Okusote will be beaten like he has never been.

“I’m aware that Cabasa won his last fight at GOtv Boxing Night 7 via a first-round knockout. I would have done the same to him, but I need to entertain the fans for much longer by punishing him well. I have fought some of the best in weight division in Africa. Cabasa is still far behind. He will suffer,” boasted the incumbent champion.

The challenger, however, considers the champion’s boast as an impotent one, saying Henshaw is drunk on the fact that he is the title holder.

“He is boasting that he is this and that. It is alright. Talk is cheap. By the time I do to him what I did to Chibunky (first-round knockout), he would know that Cabasa is king. I am being trained by one of Nigeria’s best professional boxers and he will see the result of my training when punches start landing on him. It’s Cabasa’s time. His time ends at GOtv Boxing Night 9. Tell him I said so,” raved Cabasa also known as “Ojuelegba Terror”.

The event, which features seven bouts, has two mega-fights in the international lightweight challenge duel between Nigeria’s Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi and Raphael “Iron King” Kwabena King of Ghana as well as the national lightweight challenge duel between Richard “Desert Warrior” Amenfu, also of Ghana.

GOtv Boxing Night 9 will feature four other fights in different weight categories. The best boxer at the event will go home with a cash prize of N1.5million.
