KOGI United's late push was not enough as they suffered a
1-0 defeat to Kaduna United in their Week 12 of Nigeria National League, NNL
encounter in Saturday.
Fifteen minutes headed goal by Okoliko Gabriel saw Kaduna
United claimed the maximum points against Kogi United who displayed a good
display of soccer artistry right after conceding the goal.
The Confluence Boys could have level up the score in the
last fifteen minutes' dominance with two scoring opportunities fluffed and a
clear penalty for them after Micheal Bolaji was tripped when about to take a
goal bound attempt was waived by match officials.
Kaduna captain and goalkeeper Walbe David also had a hand
in Kogi's defeat as he kept his cool on a number of occasion he was called to
action by the Coach Ishaya Jatau boys.
Jatau who was sad about the results commended his players
for their fighting spirit which he said would be build on in their final home
game (against Yarmalight FC).
The former Mighty Jets gaffer maintained that it was a
mixed feeling of home coming for him as he believed Kogi United deserved to
share the point of the entertained match just he called on his players to focus
on their next two games with a renewed beloved of ending the season on a high
note.
"Bad result for us, but a good performance by the
players, I would be more comfortable had we drew this match because we deserved
to, but we would draw much positives from it, build on it and quickly focus on
the next challenge, especially against Yarmalight (in Lokoja), it's not a bad
season after all and I'm still confident we will end well, Jatau said.
Kogi United with 15 points will next take on FC
Yarmalight in their final home game of the season in Lokoja on Saturday.
