Chief Ejidike was elected at the Union Federation of
African Karate delegate conference held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire alongside
other executive members from other parts of Africa.
Mr. Vincent Iyayi from Cote d'Ivoire was elected the
president even as Chief Donatus Ejidike also facilitated the appointment of
Emmanuel Metuh from Nigeria as the Chairman, Technical Commission while Segun
Ajibola and Bolaji Sodiq were also appointed member Referee Commission.
Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike emerged from Zone 3 comprising Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire,
Ghana, Liberia, Niger Republic, Burkinafaso, Togo and Benin Republic.
The Nigeria Pillar of Sports in a statement during his
arrival at the Muritala Muhammed International air port yesterday expressed
delight over the election and pledged to do more for the game of karate in
Nigeria and beyond.
Ejidike sounded that it is a good omen for Nigeria even
as karate sport will debut in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan as a medal
sport.
“It is to the benefit and advantage of our dear nation
Nigeria as my election as an executive member will bring good fortunes to the
Federation and more opportunities; and, that is the more reasons why I made
frantic effort to nominate three other Nigerians into technical and referees
commissions respectively”.
Ejidike assured that the Karate Federation of Nigeria
under his leadership will revitalize the sport and make it more popular in
spite the fact that economic crunch is biting hard and stalling some planned
championships.
