VICTOR Anichebe's debut in a Sunderland shirt proved to
be a nightmare as Christian Benteke's injury-time header left The Black Cats
still waiting for a first Premier League win of the season as Crystal Palace
came back from 2-0 down to snatch victory on Saturday.
The Nigeria international who moved to the Stadium of
Light on a free after his release from West Bromwich Albion came in as a
substitute for Belgium striker, Adnan Januzaj in the 86th minute of the
encounter.
Jermain Defoe's double had put the David Moyes side
within 30 minutes of a much-needed victory in front of a crowd of 38,941.
But Patrick van Aanholt's eventful week took a further
turn for the worse when he deflected Joe Ledley's 61st-minute shot past keeper
Jordan Pickford and was then beaten to the ball by James McArthur as he made it
2-2 before Benteke struck at the death.
Sunderland, one of just two teams yet to triumph in the
Premier League this season, have not won a league game in September since 2012.
