As the Nigeria U-23 team
gets set to take on Denmark in its second game at the on –going 4 –Nation Suwon
Invitational Tournament, Coach Samson Siasia has disclosed that he will make
some changes to the starting line up on Saturday.
Siasia made this disclosure
after the team's training session at the Namdong Rugby Stadium training pitch.
"As part of our plan to
give every player equal opportunity to stake a claim for a shirt going to the
Rio Olympic Games, we will be giving all the players we brought to Korea a
chance to play and be assessed on their own merit, so that none of them will
complain of not getting enough time. In our game against Denmark on Saturday,
we will definitely make changes in our starting eleven.
"This is one
opportunity that we can't let slip off our fingers as the NFF has given us a
platform to play against three top teams going to the Olympics, so we must take
full advantage of it and hopefully we will get the best legs to represent us in
Rio."
Encouraging the players to
forget about the defeat to host South Korea in the opening game on Thursday,
Coach Siasia charged them to take the positives from the defeat and use those
as the launch –pad in their game against Denmark.
"We are not saying we
are here to win the tournament as a matter of do or die, but we cannot afford
to lose all our games as it will affect our morale going to Rio, so we must
take our game a step higher than what we did against Korea," Siasia added.
All the players were
involved in Friday's training session.
The Dream Team will be
playing Denmark at the 41,000 –capacity Goyang Sports Complex at 18.00 hours
local time on Saturday, which is 10am in Nigeria.
