FORMER Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama led most of
the current national team players to pay tribute to late Shuaibu Amodu.
The Lille of France goalkeeper was joined by Super Eagles
vice captain, Ogenyi Onazi, Olympiacos forward, Brown Ideye, Hapoel Be'er Sheva
of Isreal midfielder, John Ogu, AS Monaco defender, Elderson Echiejile , FSV
Mainz 05 defender, Leon Balogun and Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie in
mourning the departed coach who gave up the ghost in the early hours of Saturday, aged 58.
Enyeama, who played under Amodu in the Super Eagles said
he was shocked to receive the news of his demise.
“Oh my God, no no no not againππππππ please
someone tell me this isn't happening, that it's not true.ππππGod
came for you. God called you home. Earlier, sooner than expectedππππREST
IN PEACE Late Mr Shuaibu Amodu,” he said via @vinny2908.
Onazi said the tragedy makes it was a sad week after the
death of Stephen Keshi, who had died three days earlier.
“Rest in peace sir, frustrating and sad week for us. Lord
have mercy. π«ππ»ππ»”,
Onazi said via his Twitter account, @OnaziOgenyi.
Ideye also tweeted using @OfficialIdeye, “Shuaibu Amodu
dead!! When we are still mourning the death of Keshi, so painfulπ’
#RIPAmoduShuaibu".
“Another big loss! This is shocking, I can't believe it.
He was a disciplinarian, father & a mentor. #RIPAmodu #EUE3,” said
Echiejile on his wall @EldersonEch.
“It's just sad -
with Amodu we lost another legend to Nigerian football. May your souls rest in
heavenly peace ππ½π³π¬ #RIPKeshi #RIPAmodu", Balogun wrote via @LeonBalogun.
Guingamp forward, Oparanozie said Amodu’s death is a big
blow for Nigerian football.
“Him again? Barely 48hours of big boss passing
on....Coach Shaibu Amodu joins himπππanother big blow
for Nigerian football. What exactly is going on? This life is vain indeed. Rest
in peace sir,” she said via @desireoparanozie.
