ENUGU Rangers midfielder, Godwin Aguda is hoping to
become the match winner when they take on Kano Pillars in the Nigeria
Professional Football League match day 21 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in
Enugu on Wednesday.
The former Christ Ambassador star who wasted two glorious
opportunities during the reverse fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano as
the former champions came from a goal down to secure a vital 2-1 victory, said
he is desperate to make up for the misses in today’s encounter.
“I believe that I am the one that actually lost that game
for my team. I had two great chances but could not convert them. Then
afterwards they equalized and went ahead to defeat us. But I believe that is
how God wanted it to be that day. The team, especially myself will try and to
bring out my 100 percent to make sure I am the hero of the day. I believe I
must have a goal in that match.”
Aguda said the Flying Antelopes 2-1 away victory over
Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in their last match came at the right
time.
“After the victory we were very happy because it is this
same Heartland team that drew us in the first round. The three points came at
the right time and it was an important one for us. At least it bettered our
position on the table.
"This week we are coming back home to take on Kano
Pillars. So that victory really gave us the needed boost ahead of Wednesday
game.
Godwin Aguda joined the Flying Antelopes from non-league
club, Christ Ambassador who won the Lagos FA Cup in 2015, he also emerge as the
Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
