Michael are some of the notable foreign based players expected to feature in a
friendly match organized by Watford striker, Jude Odion Ighalo in honour of his
late dad, Pa Paul Ighalo.
The match titled
"Ighalo and Friends vs Ajegunle Boys" is billed to hold at the Navy
Town football pitch in Ajegunle, Lagos on Sunday, 12th June, 2016 by 4pm, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Disclosing this in
Lagos on Wednesday, Ighalo said aside from using the match to honour his late
father who died in his Salami Street, Ajegunle, Lagos on April 25, it is also a
way of giving back to the people where he grew up.
He revealed that a
minute silence will be observed before the game in honour of his late coach
Stephen Keshi who died in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ighalo added that
IfeanyiUbah FC Chairman, Ifeanyi Ubah, will bankroll the event.
“For now I am in Nigeria and we have not yet
fixed the burial. I’ve called my friends to come and play football to honour my
dad for people to know that he is gone. Due to the nature of my job, I may not
be around when we want to do the final burial, but I want to try and give back
to the society where I grew up."
“Nigerians should come and see where I grew up
so that they can know that the journey has been long, not where I am today,” he
said.
