REMO Stars Football Club captain, Victor Mbaoma has described the draw away to Akwa Starlet as a spirited one.
The Sky Blue Stars secured a 1-1 draw in the week 2 of the Nigeria National League game away to Akwa Starlet in Ikot Ekpene.
Ettebong Essien gave the host a first half lead from the penalty spot while poor communication in the defense of Akwa Starlet saw Ekemini Ukoebe nod the ball above his goalkeeper to score and own goal which the sky blue stars held on to secure the first point on the road.
Captain Mbaoma, expressing delight at the result indicated that he and his teammates had to dig deep in themselves to ensure the result.
"Am so happy that we got this draw. At the end of the first half when we were down by a goal we looked at ourselves in the dressing room and said that we needed to come back into the game strongly cause we weren't playing badly.
"Luckily for us the own goal came in and we looked at ourselves again on the pitch and said this is it and endured everything Starlet threw at us on attack. We were ready defensively and I am glad we came out with a point".
Remo Stars now have four points from the first two games and will host Prime FC in the week 3 of the Nigeria National League at the Dipo-Dina Stadium Ijebu-Ode.
