One of them is the fixtures in the Northern Conference is
the match between FC Zamfara and Kogi United FC which is billed to take place
on Saturday at the Sardauna Township Stadium, in Gusau by 4pm.
Both sides have been intensifying their preparations with
recruitment of players and engaging in series of friendly matches.
For United, Coach Ishaya Jatau has beefed up his side
with acquisitions of players he believed can help the the Confluence state club
achieve greatness in the season.
The likes of John George, Roberts Sunday, both from
Sokoto United, Emma Onuh from Plateau United, Matthew Idoko, Alex Nicholas,
Victor Tale, Thomas Acheneje from Kaduna and James Onyebuchi have been brought
on board to fill the space of departed captain Afolabi Abiodun, Ernest
Governor, Destiny Ashadi, Chindo Babangida and Iko James.
Coach Jatau has however expressed optimism that his side
would start the season on a high note adding that they would be taking games as
they come with absolute focus and determination.
"We are ready for the new season and we hope it's a
successful one for us, we've had an excellent preseason, the mentality and the
spirit is high in the team now, we are taking that to Gusau and pray for luck
our side.
"I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on the
boys, but we will taking our matches as they come with a renewed spirit, we
want to use this season to appreciate what the management and the government
have been doing for us and we will not disappoint," said Ishaya Jatau.
Chairman of Kogi United, Mallam Abdul Sule has also
charged the boys to come back with positive result thereby complimenting the
effort of Kogi State Government under Governor Yahaya Bello who has
continuously demonstrating its passion for sports with tremendous support.
