RETURNING Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has vowed cement his place in the team after handed recall to the national side ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria next month.

The Hapoel Beer-Sheva midfielder who last featured for the country in a 2-0 defeat of Chad in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last year is one of the five new players coach Gernot Rohr invited for the crucial game against the Fennecs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The 28-year old has been one of Nigeria’s finest players in Europe over the last year, and won the Israeli championship with The Camels, as well as being voted the best foreign player in that country.

“So proud to have been called up to d national squad to represent my country. I feel honored and blessed to be chosen. I hope I can repay the faith,” he said via his Twitter account @ogujohnugo.

The Nigeria international however commended his Beer-Sheva teammates' performance after their 2-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv  in their Ligat ha'Al match day eight fixture at the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium on Sunday night .

The victory saw Hapoel Beer-Sheva move top of the Israeli Premier League table with 19 points and Ogu who was on parade for 90 minutes hailed the important win.

“Great result last night with another 3points to be on top of the table. Last night was important to maintain our defensive solidarity.🔴⚪️🔴,” he tweeted.
