Bet9ja NLO Super 8: Enyimba Feeders, FRSC play to thrilling draw

Enyimba Feeders FC of Aba, snatched a vital point from Federal Road Safety Corps Football Club of Abuja, in the opening game of the Bet9ja Nationwide League One Super 8 opener.


Enyimba Feeders, FRSC game live up to the expectation of the impressive soccer fans at the Agege Stadium as the both sides embarked upon mass attack, mass defence.

Olayinka Yusuf shot FRSC to early lead via a well tailored free kick that cut Enyimba Feeders goalkeeper, Ugochukwu Egbonuzi, napping.

Enyimba Feeders fight back and draw level through Pascal Eze effort in the 52nd minute to end the game 1-1.

Enyimba Feeders coach Lawrence Ukaegbu, after the game said, "The pep talk at half time gingered my boys, we expected to win, but we couldn't, we will put in everything to win our next match so as to qualify for the semi finals."

FRSC coach, Akinade Onigbinde noted, “We didn't like the fact that we drew the game. I believe we will come out strong in the next game against AS Racine."

In the second game, Papilo Football Club of Owerri started the tournament on a winning note defeating Bida Lions FC 2-1.

Kingsley Edwin and Njoku Uchenna scored the two goals to make sure Papilo beat Bida Lions.

Edwin scored the first goal for Papilo through goal-mouth scramble in the 12th minute, before Hamza Sanni equalized for Bida Lions via a 36th minute penalty and Uchenna scored the winning goal with a powerful strike in the 59th minute.

Bida Lions tried to fight back to level matters but failed to break the battle hardened Papilo team.

Papilo gave Bida Lions a good run with their penetrating moves.

“It was a painful loss although first match is always like this. I believe my boys will bounce back. We created many chances but failed to convert them. We now need to fight in our second game to win,” said Bida Lions coach Adamu Gambo after the game.

Papilo gaffer, Ozoho Obinna said he was happy with the performance of his team.

“We need to continue to win our matches. It is the only way we shall get to the later stages of the tournament. Bida Lions gave us a tough game and I must commend them,” Obinna added.

Wednesday’s game will feature My People FC of Lagos, against Bida Lions by 12.noon, while FRSC FC will battle AS Racine of Lagos by 4.pm.
