Taribo warns Eagles against ‘crafty’ Zambians

By Akeem Lawal
FORMER Nigeria international, Taribo West has warned Coach Gernot Rohr and his Super Eagles team to be wary of intelligent and crafty Chipolopolo of Zambia forwards in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification opener in Ndola this weekend.

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com in Lagos, the former AC Milan defender said the Nigerian defenders will have a herculean task of keeping the unpredictable Zambian forwards from doing any damage.

“That Zambia team is a very crafty team, I saw their last match. It's a team that you cannot predict and they have very good players that are very intelligent upfront.

“The last match I saw Nigeria being played against Tanzania, if they can be consistent with that kind of spirit, they will go to  Zambia this Sunday and at least come back home with a point,” the Super Eagles defence strongman said.

The former Inter Milan defender who expressed concern over the team’s inconsistent spirit however believes the experience of Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi and Leicester City forward, Ahmed Musa will be vital in Ndola.

“With players like Mike and Musa, it's a very big advantage on our side. With their experience, we should be able to come out with a point.

“What I’m worried about is the team spirit. The Nigerian team right now doesn’t have the consistent spirit you know can engage every match.”
