SUPER Eagles and Olympiakos forward, Brown Ideye has won
the Goal of the Week award for a brilliantly worked strike against AEK Athens
in the Greek Super League.
Ideye continued his impressive early-season form for
Olympiakos just before the international break, scoring the opening goal in
their 3-0 win over AEK Athens. It was his fifth goal in four games for the
Red-Whites this current campaign and his 15th in 28 league appearances since
joining from West Bromwich in the summer of 2014/15 season.
Ideye could not replicate his club form on his return to the
national team after a two-year absence as Nigeria got off to a flying start in
the race to be at World Cup 2018 in Russia with a 2-1 win away to Zambia in
Ndola.
The 28 year old who uploaded his picture with the award
on his Twitter handle, expressed appreciation to his teammates and his fans who
voted for him.
“I got awarded 'the best goal' of the Greek super league
(GSL) match day 6 today. Big thanks to my team and everyone who voted for me🏆⚽”, he said via @OfficialIdeye along with
the picture.
Ideye has been instrumental in his side's progress so far
this season as they currently sit second in the league table.
