YOUNG Dynamos Football Club will take on Adeomo FC of
Ogba in the final of the 6th annual edition of the U-15 Henry Ajomale Cup
football competition on Sunday, October 9, at the Campus Mini Stadium in Ajele
area of Lagos by 3 pm.
In the third place match, Lobo Babes will slug it out
with Alisco FC of Agbado by 1pm.
The competition which is being sponsored by Chief Henry
Ajomale, Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Lagos State, kicked off
about two weeks ago with 32 teams from different parts of the state.
Speaking at the official handing over of trophies to the
Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association, organisers of the competition at the
APC secretariat in Lagos during the week, Chief Ajomale reiterated his commitment
towards the yearly sponsorship of the event which he hopes will continue to
discover soccer talents in the state.
"It gladdens my heart when I heard that three of the
players that participated in past editions of this competition are now with the
national Under-16 team. That is an attestation that the aim of which the
competition is organized is beginning to yield fruits.
“I am happy that I am able to contribute my own quota to
the development of those boys. Who knows, if this competition is not held,
maybe they will be roaming the streets and become vulnerable all these social
vises.
The APC chieftain revealed that the winner of the
competition will go home with the sum of N1 million, while the second placed
team will be rewarded with N750,000 and the third and fourth place will get
N500,000 and N250,000 respectively for their efforts.
Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association however
commended the sponsor for his continuous sponsorship despite the downturn
global economic recession facing the country which could have prompted him to
turn his back to this type of call.
