NIGERIAN freestyle wrestler and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth
Games gold medalist, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has assured that she would correct the
mistakes noticed during her fights at the just concluded Spanish Grand Prix before the Rio
Olympic Games in Brazil.
Adekuoroye could only settled for a bronze medal in her
53kg class at the Spanish Grand Prix as the Team Nigeria wrestlers won a silver
and two bronze medals.
In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, the three-time
African champion said the seven Olympic-bound wrestlers will continue to
prepare for the Games under the tutelage of coaches Victor Kodei, Purity Akuh and others,
whom she described as the best in the sport.
“I don’t have any regret finishing in third place at the
Spanish Grand Prix and it is good that it happened this way. That is why it is
good to go for competitions like that. I know God has a plan for me.
“It was just a mistake that I believe won’t happen again.
I was leading my opponent from Venezuela 8-6 before losing the fight 10-8. I don’t
know how to explain because I wrestled her well to the extent that she
couldn’t stand up after the match. So I believe I have an edge but it is good you make mistake
sometimes so that it won’t happen again.
“We will continue to train in Nigeria and I must commend our
coaches. It’s just that we don’t appreciate what we have. Can you believe that when we go for competitions coaches from different countries normally come and ask my coach ‘where do you people
train?’ Despite the fact that we don’t have the best of facilities, no adequate
fund for camps not to talk of enough competitions, we are still shaking the
world thanks to them. They are the best coaches in the sport,” she said.
Really, she have tried her best several times moreover if. Mistakes occur in himan activities most all the time it lead to success. Kudos the you beloved sister while appreciate the efforts of the the Coach.
