Nigeria national male basketball team, the D’Tigers will continue
their preparation for the Rio Olympic Games with a double-header exhibition games against Argentina basketball team.
The first game will hold on Monday, 18th July
at the Thomas & Mack Center located on the campus of the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas, while the second will be played two days later at the Cox
Pavilion within the same campus, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The coach Will Voigt side without their regular stars, won
two and lost two matches to place third at the just concluded FIBA Stankovic
Continental Champions’ Cup in Beijing, China.
The country's Olympic-bound team beat Chinese men's
basketball team twice 71-79, 64-74 but lost 71-49 to Argentina and 82-73 to eventual
winner, France in the four nation tourney.
D’Tigers are expected to play Team USA on August 1, from
where they will fly straight to Rio for the Olympics which commences on August
5 in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
Nigeria is drawn in Group B alongside host, Brazil,
Argentina, Spain and Lithuania, while UAS will face France, Venezuela, China
and Australia in Group A.
The African champions are currently training at the
Mendenhall Center in Las Vegas with players such as long serving captain,
Olumide Oyedeji, Tunisia 2015 MVP, Chamberlain Oguchi, Olaseni Lawal, Andy Ogide,
Stanley Okoye, the Aminu brothers, Al
Farouk and Alade.
Detroit Pistons’ Michael Gbinije is expected to join the team on Sunday.
