Iwobi, Akpom celebrate win over MLS All Stars

NIGERIAN striker, Chuba Akpom is still in celebration mood after netting an 87th-minute winner as Arsenal recorded a 2-1 win over the Major League Soccer All-Stars on Thursday night.


It appeared that the pre-season clash was heading for penalties after Didier Drogba cancelled out a Joel Campbell penalty, but Akpom netted three minutes from time to ensure that the Gunners triumphed at the Avaya Stadium.

In his reaction after the game, the England U-21 striker who is still eligible to represent Nigeria expressed delight at getting to feature in the encounter.

“Nice to get some minutes against the MLS All-Stars and get on the scoresheet 🔴⚪️ #AFC #ArsenalUSA," the 20 year old wrote on his Twitter handle.

Also, Arsenal youngstar, Alex Iwobi who came in as a 67th minute substitute for Theo Walcott is also glad to feature against the MLS All-Stars side.

“Nice to get 45 minutes against the #MLSAllstars”, the 19 year old said via his official Twitter account.
