THE first round of the 2015/16 Nigeria National League
season comes to a close this weekend with one of the fixtures billed to take
place in Umuahia, Abia State Capital.
Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia host Prime Football
Club at the Umuahia Township Stadium in a Week 7 game expected to be an
exciting fixture.
Time is running out for both sides to
secure their respective goals for the season, which means that the stage has
been reached where a defeat is likely to prove fatal for either side.
Comets will be hoping to defeat Prime for the first time
in three meetings between the sides in Umuahia, while Prime will expect to win
their last match in the first round to serve as morale booster ahead of the
second round.
Prime are coming into this game having been impressive in
their last away game against Go Round and will be looking to replicate such
form against a weakened Comets side.
Abia Comets will rely on former Prime attacker, Dauda
Olalere to light up the pitch on Saturday evening, though the team is far from
a one man team, they have strength all over the pitch and they are arguably one
of the most passionate sides in the NNL.
The Omoluabi Giants
must simply keep doing what they have been doing to win matches at home if they
are going to win at away, and that’s sticking to the game plan.
Shina Afolabi, has managed his tactics tremendously so
far and his players trust him and they will be looking to play good football in
at their feet when they need it, defending as a defensive and midfield unit,
and looking for Adeyemi Adeyeye, Lekan Oseolohun and Hakeem Olalere, as outlets
to create chances for Prime to be capable of doing damage.
The 'Believe and Achieve' gladiators do not however just
rely on few players, as they have an incredibly strong midfield and a defence
capable of stopping Comets in their tracks and a good performance for them is
vital.
Prime are placed fourth on the log with 9 points, while
Abia Comets are placed sixth on the log with 7 points.
