GOTV BOXING NIGHT 8: My punch will make you shake, Babatunde tells Lateef

NIGERIA’S latest boxing sensation, Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde, has warned Shakiru “No Shaking” Lateef, his opponent at GOtv Boxing Night 8, that he will be shaking when they meet in a light welterweight challenge contest at the event, which holds on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

Baby Face, discovered at GOtv Boxing NextGen Search in February, effortlessly saw off the challenge of the more experienced Tope “Berinja” Agboola on his professional debut at GOtv Boxing Night 7.

Speaking in Lagos on Monday, Baby Face said: “I laughed when I heard he calls himself No Shaking. Tell him that only corpses don’t shake. He is not one and the fear of my punches will make him shake when we get into the ring. He will shake until I knock him out in the third round,” boasted the 20-year old.

Also scheduled for the event are five other explosive fights, the biggest of which is the 12-round national middleweight title contest between reigning champion, Sunny ‘King Hammer” Iyere and West African champion, Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed. The featherweight category will see the national and West African Boxing Union (WABU) champion, Waidi “Skoro” Usman, return to the ring when he takes on David “Lucky Boy” Ekpeyong in a challenge bout.

Also making a ring return is national welterweight champion, Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo, who will fight Dele “Lagelu” Adeleke, a veteran.

The best boxer of the event will go home with N1million cash prize and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.

Similarly scheduled to fight is the explosive Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, two-time winner of the N1million cash prize for the best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night, whose light welterweight duel with the experienced Joseph “Blacky Joe” Adeniji has the potential to really catch fire.

In the super middleweight category, Matthew “Wizeman” Obinna, another find from the GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, is scheduled to take on Samuel “Lion Heart” Igbokwe. The event will be broadcast live by SuperSport in 47 African countries.

Sponsored by GOtv, GOtv Boxing Night, is supported by MultiChoice, KSquare Security, Paragonis Multimedia Limited, Complete Sports, Newsbreak.ng, Bond FM and Brila FM.
