MOUNTAIN of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club
(MFM FC) midfielder, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi believes the team is still on course for a
top four finish this season after
defeating Ikorodu United 3-1 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
Match Day 25 decided at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Sikiru Olatunbosun opened scoring for the Olukoya Boys 12th minute, while Fatai
Abdullahi leveled for the visitors from
the spot seven minutes later.
Stephen Odey’s goal in the 70th and a 90th minute spot
kick converted by Ifeanyi ended any hope of a comeback for the Oga boys, reports Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
The Lagos derby victory saw MFM move to 9th
spot on the log with 33 points from 23 matches, while Ikorodu United are rooted
at the base on 15 points with two matches to spare.
Ifeanyi told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com after the
encounter that the victory has given the team the bragging rights over their
neighbours as they continue their quest for a continental ticket this season.
“They (MFM) boasted they will come out here to die on the
field and beat us. We knew the game is going to be tough, but we needed to
prove to them we are the Lagos champions and glory to God we won.
“We always take every game as it comes. For the players,
we have the top four on our mind from the beginning of the season. Being in the
league for the very first time, we had it in mind that we are better than any
other team. Even the likes of Barcelona sometimes drop form and sometimes they
pick up. So despite what is happening to the team, we know we will come up and
make that top four. We are still focused,” the former Nigeria Under-20 midfield
maestro said.
