FA Cup Final: Kogi Utd won’t underrate FC Lokoja, says Abdulrahman

HEAD Coach of Kogi United, Tunde Abdulrahman has described the Kogi State FA Cup final against FC Lokoja as the club's "biggest test" of the season.

The two clubs will meet in their third FA Cup finals in four years at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Saturday.

Kogi United have triumphed in their last two finals - winning 5-4 on penalties in 2014 and 1-0 triumph in last year's final.

Kogi United are expected to use the Cup final as springboard to get back to winning ways after three successive league defeats.

While charging his players to be wary of the threat posed by their local rivals, Abdulrahman noted that Kogi United would approach the game with all sense of focus and seriousness.

"We will never underestimate FC (Lokoja), it's a Cup final and I think this our biggest test as club this season, we need to be at our very best to win the cup, it won't be easy because it's a local derby but I believe we have a chance to win it."

Abdulrahman reflected on the new mood in the camp saying: "I like the commitment of the team and it has been a very good performance at the training.

"The players are responding very well. Its important we win this cup, it will boost our confidence and believe going back to the league.

"There is quality in the team and the will, the discipline and the tactical work we demand as a team in terms of defensively minded work is working.

"We will prepare for the game exactly the same way we do for a league match and show our opponents full respect as ever. Hopefully, we will come through it.

Kogi United defeated FC 24, Abuja 2-0 in the quarter finals before beating Ditche FC 2-1 in the last to book the final ticket.

FC Lokoja came from behind to beat Kogi State University, KSU Football team 2-1 in the quarter and secured the final berth in a dramatic version as they beat Kogi United Feeders 4-3 on penalties after playing 1-1 in normal duration.
