Almar secure historic Ogun State FA Cup

Players, officials get N.2m

ALMAR Football Club of Ijebu-Ode, have emerged as champions of the Ogun State Federation Cup, for the first time in the club's history, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

Almar, who was runners up to Gateway United Football Club in last year's edition, lifted the trophy by defeating hard fighting JCTC Football Club of Abeokuta 1-0.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 63rd minute, while the two teams will now represent the State at the National Federation Cup.
It was a personal triumph for emotional Almar President Dare Aleibiosu, who rewarded his team wholesomely with cash of N200, 000 for winning the Ogun State FA Cup on Sunday. 

Speaking with newsmen after the game, the astute football administrator expressed satisfaction with his players performance and urged his charges to remain focused ahead of future hostilities. 

He stated further that the young lads need to be encouraged hence they are doing well.

“I’m highly excited with my boys performances, playing in the state cup finals and winning the trophy is not easy.

"I am happy the boys were able to display their God given talent and I believe we have a bright future in Nigeria football," he said.

However, Remo Stars Football Club Senior team had to dig deep to defeat its Feeders team in a thrilling third place match.

Remo Stars Feeders took the lead in the second half, before the senior team equalised from the penalty spot later on.

The Senior team eventually won 5-4 on penalties, after 7 penalty kicks.

The two matches were played at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
