SUPER Eagles attacking
midfielder, Michael Babatunde hopes his exploits for Qatar Sports Club this
outgoing season will earn him a return to the national team.
Babatunde was voted Qatar SC
Player of the Season in his debut season after he scored 25 goals and provided
10 assists which helped his Qatari second division side gain promotion to the
elite league.
The 2014 World Cup star is
the highest scoring Nigerian player this season in Europe outscoring the trio
of Kayode Olanrewaju (22 goals), Henry Onyekuru (22 goals) and Anthony Nwakeame
(18 goals).
"I had a good season
but it's not enough to have a good season and be left out of your national
team.
"I'm happy my goals
helped Qatar SC gained promotion but I want to build on that form so I can get
a chance to represent my country," the former Raja Casablanca midfielder
told SportingLife in Lagos.
Qatar SC are ready to reward
the 24 year old with a new improved contract following his brilliant debut
season at the club.
Babatunde's rich vein of
form has also seen the Doha based outfit turn down several offers from European
teams ready to take him on loan ahead of the 2017/18 season.
"I have been approached
by several teams but I want to make a decision that will boost my chances of
making a return back to the team," he told SportingLife.
