Why Dogo rescinded decision to quit Nasarawa Utd

By Akeem Lawal
THE Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United,  Kabir Dogo has decided to rescind its earlier decision to leave his position, just hours after announcing his resignation following the home draw with Sunshine stars of Akure.

Dogo made the resignation threat in a postmatch interview following his side’s 1-1 draw against Sunshine Stars in a match day 9 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday.

In a telephone chat with SportingLife, the former ABS gaffer said he changed his mind following pleas from colleagues and calls from those he holds in high esteem.

"It's just that I was not happy because I expected much more than what is going on in terms of results. I will not deceive you, the government and management are trying their best but we are not getting the results. They see the work I'm doing and all my efforts on the team.

“I had told the players after our match against Gombe United that if they don't win the next two games, I will leave them so that another person can come in and try his luck. They won one (against Abia Warriors) and drew this one(against Sunshine Stars) and that was what brought about my initial announcement of my resignation.

“But we have settled the issue now because so many people have called, some of my senior colleagues, management and stakeholders that I should not submit any letter and one has to respect his elders too. So I've changed my mind, I'm still with the team.

"It’s not that they are playing badly like that, luck was just against us attimes. We even lost a penalty against Sunshine Stars. But with what happened now, I believe everybody will sit-up. I'll call the players to a meeting because we have to address ourselves to double our efforts," Dogo told SportingLife.
