SHOOTING Stars Sports Club (3SC) forward, Sunday Faleye
has dedicated his goal and Man of the Match award in their 2-1 victory over
Rivers United in the Nigeria Professional Football League match Day 6 encounter
held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan on Sunday to his father
and mother.
Faleye who was handed his first start of the season for
the Oluyole Warriors was a thorn in the flesh for the defenders of the CAF
Champions League campaigners. He was clearly the man of the match, scoring the
first goal after punishing the visitors for not tidying up their defense in the
17th minute. He also provided the assist to Jide Apena for the
winner in the 67th minute after Lukman Mohammed's first half equalizer.
in a chat with SportingLife after being presented with his Man of The Match gift by the Shooting Stars Progressive Club, the talented youngster who now has two goals to his name
in his debut season, thanked the Coach Fatai Amoo-led technical crew for giving
him his first start of the campaign.
“There is nobody that played this kind of game and scored
that won't be happy. I'm very happy and I'm thanking Coach Fatai Amoo for
giving me the privilege to start. I know he has been bringing me in due to one
or two reasons because he wants to build me for 90 minutes and I thank God that
he start me for the game.
“I'm very happy to improve my scoring because since I
scored in my first game, I've not found the net in the last three matches, but
I thank God for this achievement and I'm dedicating the goal and the award to
my mum and dad because I have promised them I will score,” Faleye told SportingLife.
3SC General Manager, Rasheed Balogun however
thanked the players for putting up such a performance against Rivers United,
even as he expressed appreciation to the fans for supporting the team
throughout the encounter.
