Oyedeji voted Man of the match as ABS beat Wikki

ABUBAKAR Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) midfielder, Samuel Oyedeji has been voted the Man-of-the-Match after his immense contributions helped the Saraki Boys defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 in a Matchday 10 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided at the Kwara State Stadium on Sunday.

Although Mohammed Mohammed's goal in the 15th minute of the first half separated the two sides, it was dreads-wearing Oyedeji, who was drafted to the right back position that impressed the majority of the spectators including journalists at the stadium.

The utility player showed no sign of being played out of position as he was involved in the hosts first attempt at goal in the 11th minute when he found Mohammed in the box, but Emeka Nwabulu in Wikki's goal made a timely interception to deny him the chance.

The coach Henry Makinwa tutored side got their goal in the 15th minute when Mohammed got the ball from Anaekwe Ebuka's throw-in at the edge of Wikki's box, the lanky frontman outmuscled two Wikki defenders before burying past outrushing Nwabulu to score his fourth goal of the season.

The visitors showed good response to equalized in the 18th minute when Festus Umanah's cross was almost headed in by Abdullahi Musa.

Wikki stepped up their game with momentary dominance after the half hour mark. Two successive set-piece were award against ABS in their half, with the second taken by Harrison Madu was parried to safety by Boje as Richard Jonathan could not get the rebound on target.

Both sides failed to convert the other numerous chances created till the end of first half.

It was ABS that first showed any real sign of scoring with Mohammed linking up well with Chigozirim Metu on the right and the goalscorer dragged his effort wide.

The game later became a one-sided affair with only ABS doing the playing and dominating.

But the home side did not have any chance of increasing their lead as Emeka Nwabulu in goal for Wikki stood between the boys of Henry Makinwa and their second goal with series of saves.

In the latter stages of the encounter, Mohammed flying nodding from Oyedeji's set-piece was parried away by the former U-23 shot stopper.

The situation remained the same till the end of the entertaining encounter in Ilorin.
