NIGER Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala hopes the team
will build on their 1-0 victory recorded against Remo Stars in the Nigeria
Professional Football League matchday 7 decided at the Gateway International
Stadium, Sagamu on Wednesday.
A lone strike by Chidebere Ajoku handed the Ikoh Alla Boys their first three points
on the road in the on-going top-flight.
The win saw the Minna outfit shoot to the 10th position
on the log while condemning the Sky Blue Stars to the bottom of the log with
six points.
In a chat with SportingLife after the encounter, the highly elated
coach said the 1-1 draw recorded away to current NPFL Champions, Enugu Rangers last
weekend gave his side psychological boost and believe that they can get a
victory against Remo Stars.
“Since our game against Rangers, that gave us an open
game that whenever we come out for our away matches, we can take our chances
and collect the three points. If we create chances and utilize them, we will
surely get points away.
“If you could remember last season, it was at the 38th
match against Kano Pillars that we got away point, but this time around we have
gotten four points in seven matches at away. No doubt this victory will go a
long way in spurring the boys ahead of our next set of games.
“My target this season is that before the first ten
matches my team should be stabilized. The team is over 80 percent new. They are
gradually learning together and gradually gelling together and improving match
by match. I know we would build on this win.
“I’m relieved with this three points because it has
opened the gate for us and have given us that confidence that we can go
anywhere and pick a win. If you lose at home you can go away and get your
points,” Bala told SportingLife.
