MOUNTAIN of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM FC)
goalkeeper, Ospino Egbe believes he has been able to convince the Coach Fidelis
Ilechukwu-led technical crew that he is capable of being the number one choice
for the Nigeria Professional Football League outfit.
The former Nembe City shot stopper has been impressive
for the Olukoya Boys since replacing injured Folarin Abayomi after the team had
conceded three goals in a 0-4 loss to FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the NPFL matchday 2
encounter in Nnewi.
Since then Ospino has been in goal in the last three
games, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 bashing of Lobi Stars and was
instrumental as the team secured a 1-1 draw against 3SC in Ibadan, while also putting
up some decent saves to ensure his team beat Kano Pillars 1-0 in NPFL matchday
5 at the Agege Stadium last weekend.
In a chat with SportingLife, Ospino said he hopes to
continue to help the team secure valuable points at both home and away games
this season.
“I hope I have been able to convince him that I am good
enough to be the number one choice for this team. Last season I mostly come in
as a second half substitute most especially when the team is losing but I thank
God for giving me the opportunity this time around.
“I want to thank Almighty God for the clean sheet against
Kano Pillars. They say when there is life there is hope. When I came in against
Ifeanyi Ubah, I conceded a goal and I promised myself that I will convince the
coaches that I’m capable of being in goal for the team. I thank God that I did
not concede against Lobi Stars and it took a late minute penalty for Shooting
Stars to draw against us in Ibadan. I’m also happy with my performance against
Kano Pillars too and I hope I will continue with this form when we play
Sunshine Stars this weekend in Akure,” he told SportingLife.
